Theft, vandalism cases reported in Washington County

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Friday:

· At 12:30 p.m., theft was reported at Food Lion, 22000 Jefferson Boulevard. Medication was taken from a vehicle parked at Food Lion.

· At 12:30 p.m., malicious destruction of property and theft were reported at Keep Tryst Road. A window was broken out of a vehicle and a purse was taken.

· At 3 p.m., theft was reported at Red Roof Inn in Williamsport. Medication and cash were taken from a vehicle.

Saturday:

· At 8 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at William Gower & Son in the area of Spielman Road. Side windows were broken out of the business.

· At 9 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 100 block of West Main Street in Hancock. Windows were broken out of a vehicle.

· At 9:15 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 17000 block of Burnside Avenue. A window was broken out of a vehicle.

· At 6 p.m., an attempted breaking and entering was reported in the 17000 block of Maple Leaf Court. A front and rear door were tampered with.

Sunday:

· At 1 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at a power station in the area of Boonsboro Mountain Road. Windows were broken out of a vehicle parked at the power station.

· At 8:30 a.m., auto theft was reported in the 13000 block of Salem Church Road. A 2002 Olds Alero was stolen overnight.

· At 11:30 a.m., auto theft was reported in the 21000 block of Black Rock Road. A 1997 Saturn was stolen.

· At 11:30 a.m., theft was reported in the 12000 block of Walnut Point Road. Two vehicle were broken into and cash was stolen.

· At 5:30 p.m., theft was reported at JS Express in the 16000 block of Business Parkway. A CB radio was stolen from a vehicle.

Monday:

· At 9 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Brooklane Center in the 13000 block of Brooklane Drive. A sign was spraypainted overnight.

· At 9 p.m., damage was reported at Pen Mar Park in the area of High Rock Road. A soda machine was broken into.

Burglaries reported in McConnellsburg area

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — Troopers this morning were investigating burglaries at two homes on Covalt Road in the area of Timber Ridge Road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Someone broke into two homes, both owned by the same person, and took a $200 red-and-white, 12-volt battery charger, troopers said in a news release.

Two clocks stolen from Greencastle store

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Two antique clocks were stolen from The Farmer's Wife store at 103 S. Carlisle St. over the weekend, Greencastle police said in a news release.

The owner told police she thought they were taken while an employee was distracted by opening a locked display case for a customer, police said.

One of the clocks was a black, cast-iron mantel clock circa 1881-1891, made by Ansonia and valued at $500, police said. The other was a wooden steeple clock with reverse on glass painting circa 1800, made by Waterbury and valued at $350, police said.

Prilosec stolen from Greencastle pharmacy

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A manager at Rite Aid told police a woman stole several boxes of Prilosec OTC Monday afternoon, Greencastle Police said in a news release.

The theft happened at about 3:30 p.m. at 200 N. Antrim Way, police said. The manager said a black woman in her mid-20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a ponytail, hid the boxes in her coat and left the store, police said.

When confronted outside the store, the woman "became belligerent" and got into a blue or green mid-sized sedan with West Virginia plates, driven by another woman, police said.

Police say three Frederick businesses sold tobacco to minors

FREDERICK, Md. - Three of 17 Frederick County businesses sold tobacco products to minors in a compliance check Feb. 28, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

Exxon on Spring Ridge Parkway, WaWa on Ballenger Creek Pike and Exxon in Urbana sold the products to minors, the department said. Clerks there face a court appearance, possible fines and community service. Business owners face fines from $300 to $3,000 and, after three offenses, can lose their state-issued licenses to sell tobacco products, the department said.

The operation was funded by a grant from the Cigarette Restitution Fund administered by the Frederick County Health Department's Substance Abuse Prevention Services.

Two W.Va. residents face drug charges after stop

FREDERICK, Md. - Two West Virginia residents face drug charges after a traffic stop on Interstate 70 Thursday night, the Frederick County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

Justin H. Buell, 25, of Grand Cacapon, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and traffic charges including driving without a license, deputies said.

Keith B. Whisner, 37, of Berkeley Springs, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

Hagerstown police respond to incidents

The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following incidents, according to spokeswoman Barbara Pickett:

· At 12:01 a.m., knives were confiscated in the 300 block of South Locust Street.

Sunday

· At 1:25 p.m., scratches on vehicle were reported in the 500 block of Jefferson Street.

Saturday

· At 8:13 a.m., a door was reported damaged at the Clarion Hotel at 901 Dual Highway.

· At 11:10 a.m., a window was reported damaged at Trinity Church at 32 East Ave.

Friday

· At 8:30 a.m., graffiti was reported in the 100 block of Bester Street.

· At 10:36 a.m., an overdose was reported in the 100 block of East Antietam Street.

· At 2:18 p.m., an armed robbery was reported in the first block of North Potomac Street.

· At 11:29 p.m., a sexual assault was reported at 17850 Garland Groh Blvd.

Thursday

· At 6:12 a.m., a mirror on a vehicle was reported damaged in the first block of North Cleveland Avenue.

· At 10:11 a.m., cash was reported stolen from 17850 Garland Groh Blvd.

· At 10:18 a.m., firearms were reported stolen from Arrow and Bullet at 1034 Concord St.

· At 12:49 p.m., an unattended death was reported in the first block of South Walnut Street.

· At 6:13 p.m., cash was reported stolen in the 1000 block of Pope Avenue.

· At 6:59 p.m., a digital camera was reported stolen in the first block of Elizabeth Street.

· At 8:07 p.m., a bicycle was found at West Franklin Street and High Street. It was a maroon and silver 26-inch,18-speed Next bicycle.

· At 9:25 p.m., a vehicle window was reported damaged in the 1500 block of Potomac Avenue.

· At 9:30 p.m., second-degree assault was reported in the 200 block of West Franklin Street.

Wednesday

· At 10:51 a.m., credit cards were reported stolen at 17850 Garland Groh Blvd.

· At 2:29 p.m., theft through a phone scam was reported in the 600 block of North Mulberry Street.

Woman charged with DUI after vehicle strikes fountain

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A woman was charged Sunday with driving under the influence after the vehicle she was driving struck a fountain at the intersection of West King and Glen streets, according to the Chambersburg Police Department.

Karen Brigitte El Aouad, 32, of 101 Glen St., had minor injuries in the 5:59 p.m. crash, police said. Her blood-alcohol level of 0.214 percent was more than 2 1/2 times the legal limit for intoxication, police said.

Chambersburg police take wanted man into custody

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A traffic stop Sunday resulted in police taking into custody a man wanted by authorities in Florida, according to the Chambersburg Police Department.

Calvin E. Stubbs, 59, of 1024 Warm Spring Road, Lot 85, was stopped shortly after 1 p.m. at the intersection of Catherine Street and Larch Avenue, police said. Stubbs is wanted for violating parole in Florida for a drug-related conviction, police said.

Pa. man charged with DUI after traffic stop

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg, Pa., man was charged with driving under the influence after being stopped Thursday morning on U.S. 11, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Jason Rowles, 25, address unavailable, was stopped for speeding at 2:24 a.m. near Dead End Lane.

Rowles was driving 94 mph in a 55-mph zone, police said.
