Gilbert T. Myers, 82

SEPT. 15, 1926-JAN. 31, 2009

SHARPSBURG - Gilbert Theodore "Gil" "Jr." Myers, 82, of Harpers Ferry Road, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at his home.

Born Sept. 15, 1926, in Dargan, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Theodore and Mary Elva Grim Myers.

He was employed for 36 years by the B&O Railroad in Brunswick, Md.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Chestnut Grove Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Irene McCoy Myers, whom he married Jan. 21, 1949; two daughters, Lana W. Willetts of Rohrersville and Pamela V. Rutherford of Keedysville; two sons, Michael T. Myers of Martinsburg, W.Va., and R. Clark Myers of Woodbridge, Va.; one sister, Brenda L. Miller of Clear Spring; one brother, Donald B. Myers of Dargan; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Grove Bible Church. The Rev. Daniel Hanshew will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chestnut Grove Bible Church, 3636 Chestnut Grove Road, Keedysville, MD 21756; or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
