FREDERICK, Md. - Mr. Andrew "Andy" Paul Hummer, age 41, of Frederick, died at Frederick Memorial Hospital on April 8, 2009. Born on Feb. 24, 1968, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Paul J. Hummer Jr. and the late Janice E. Hummer.
Andy was a graduate of Rock Creek School, and during his school years he participated in local and state Special Olympics swimming, weightlifting and duckpin bowling. He rode horses for 30 years in therapeutic riding programs. He was also an avid putt-putt golfer. After graduating from Rock Creek School, he worked at Scott Key Center and Lintini's Restaurant until his death.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two sisters, Sarah Hisim and her husband Nusret, of Frederick, Md.; Anne Massie and her husband Curtis, of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Karl Hummer and his wife Angie, of Boonsboro, Md.; three nieces, Rachel Golub and husband Patrick, of Goose Creek, S.C., and Caitlin and Hannah Hisim of Frederick, Md.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church St., Frederick, Md., on Tuesday, April 14, at noon with Pastor Emeritus W. Phillip Fogarty and Pastor Barbara Bornemann co-officiating. Interment will be in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro, Md.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scott Key Center, 1050 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702 or Frederick County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program, 11515 Angleberger Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.
