New business spotlight - Good health is their aim

Name of business: Pure and Simple Caf

Owners: David and Cathy Pence

Address: 628 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225

Opening date: Sept. 1, 2007

Products and services: A healthy menu of soups, salads, wraps, smoothies and coffee. About 75 percent of the food is organic. The business also offers massage therapy, an infrared sauna that is used to help detoxify the body, supplements, other natural products and free Wi-Fi.

How did you get into your business, or what motivated you to start it?: Cathy's parents died at a young age. She noticed she was starting to have some of the symptoms they experienced, so she began reading books and reports on sicknesses and disease. She learned the common thread was not genetics but a lack of nutrition, so she studied naturopathy (healing through nutrition), raw food preparation and cooking.

The Pences take pleasure in seeing someone completely turn around his or her health and live life to its fullest.
