Christian Andrew Miller Jr., 62

Christian Andrew Miller Jr., 62, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at home after battling cancer.
Born July 29, 1947, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Betty J. Miller of Hagerstown and the late Christian A. Miller Sr.
He was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School and Naval Electronics School in Great Lakes, Mich., in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician aboard the USS Columbus and in the Naval Reserves from June 1965 to August 1970.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagerstown for over 40 years.
He was an active firefighter and member and past vice-president of First Hagerstown Hose Co. for 40 years; past advisor of Fire & Rescue Explorer Post 321; worked at Fort Detrick for Western Union (GTE) for 25 years. In later years, he worked for Chevy Chase Bank and Hagerstown Automotive Inc.
As well as his mother, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen Louise (Rasmussen) Miller; two children, Louise Min (Miller) Hade of Hagerstown and Blaine William Miller of Clear Spring; one grandchild, Karen Virginia Hade of Hagerstown; two sisters, Betty Bowers of Smithsburg and Lori Schiano-Di-Cola of Hagerstown; three nieces; and one nephew.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, 216 N. Cleveland Ave. Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Robert McIntyre will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md., on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the John Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Suite 129, Hagerstown, MD or to Antietam Healthcare Foundation, c/o Courtesy Van, 251 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
