Howard Westover, 82

JULY 19, 1927-NOV. 19, 2009

SMITHSBURG - Howard Westover, 82, of Ritchie Road, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Hagerstown, Md.

Born July 19, 1927, in North Braddock, Pa., he was the son of the late Clyde T. and Dorothy A. Westover.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Rebecca (Webb) Westover, June 1, 2003.

He was employed by Mack Trucks Inc. of Hagerstown.

He was a member of Black Rock Bible Church of Hagerstown, where he was organist for years, and UAW Local 171.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by stepdaughters, Phyra Hargett of Georgia, Patricia Paull of Pennsylvania and Lynda Miller of North Carolina; stepsons, Garnet (Butch) Stevens of Pennsylvania and Ray Stevens of Maryland; brother, Lawrence C. Westover of Wellsburg, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Westover; 13 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Blair M. Westover and Stanley R. Westover.

Services will be held Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at 2 p.m. from the Black Rock Bible Church with Pastor Dennis J. Sieglaff officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Howard to Black Rock Bible Church, 9646 Crystal Falls Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements were made by J.L. Davis Funeral Home Smithsburg, Md.
