Fire destroys oven at Williamsport High School
No one was injured Friday morning when a fire broke out in the home economics classroom at Williamsport High School, according to a press release from Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS.
The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. when flammable materials that were sitting on top of an oven caught fire, the release said. The fire was discovered by a student, who alerted a teacher. The teacher then used a fire extinguisher to knock down the flames, the release said.
The fire department reported that high-powered fans were used to clear smoke from the building.
The oven was destroyed, the release said.
