My name is Ray. I'm calling regarding the young lady who assisted me at the Weis store on Dual Highway. I would like to say thank you very much. I thought I was having a sugar attack but it turns out that I was having a seizure. I think her name is Mary. She drove a little white car. I just really, really want to thank her. She was definitely an angel sent by God."

"Is there any way a single low-income parent can get help buying or renting a house that's not in a bad area like with drugs and other crimes?"

- Washington County

"I enjoyed some of the comments about NASCAR fans in Mail Call. I agree with one gentleman. NASCAR is a clean sport. You don't read about drugs, wife beatings, murder, robbery by its members or participants. I hate to disappoint the people that really like NASCAR but I would bet money that these problems are coming in the near future."

- Hagerstown

"My son and husband were flying their large multicolored kite at Woodland Way park on Sunday. It broke free and they searched for half an hour to find it and could not find it. If you have seen the kite, would you please phone us at 301-992-5554."

- Hagerstown

"I think they ought to have a law banning people from using cell phones when they're driving. I think they're abusing their cell phone usage while driving. I think they're also making a toy out of them. I don't feel it's that important for them to be talking on their cell phone while they're driving. It's a traffic hazard, to say the least. I think they ought to have a law passed fining people that are caught talking on their cell phones while driving."

- Greencastle, Pa.

"I was reading the column today and I would like some of these parents to tell me why they have to take their children to school. I'm not trying to be smart but I just want to know some of the reasons why they have to take their children to school. Do they not have buses? Are they not close enough to walk? I personally feel that a lot of these kids are being taken to school when they wouldn't have to be. Just curious."

- Washington County

"I'm calling about a friendly big yellow dog lost on Kemps Mill Road. If anybody has seen this dog, please call this number: 301-790-1157."

"I saw the music of the '60s on PBS Saturday night. There were more than 50 great bands like The Byrds, Steppenwolf, The Eagles, Jimi Hendrix, the Temptations to name a few. Music of unsurpassed quality, all great musicians and composers. Music of love, togetherness. This music made the generations of the '60s what they believed for. But now I see the rap music of today and not only the musicians, but people who degrade women, speak of hate and violence and disrespect society and this is what I see of the generation today."

-Hagerstown

"When signing a letter with Xs and Os, can somebody tell me what the Xs and Os mean?"

- Washington County

"I would like to know what do the people on Oak Ridge Drive think about a traffic light on Halfway Boulevard and West Oak Ridge Drive. We have had quite a few accidents. On Wednesday evening there was a bad one there but of course it wasn't in the paper. The speed limit is 35 but they do 50 or more. It is really hard to get out of there."

"Someone wanted to know the Census Bureau number. I have the number when they were advertising for jobs and it is 240-420-6006."

- Williamsport

"Would anyone in the area know where I could get help to pay a $700 heating bill?"

- Hagerstown

"If you lost a change purse in the area out by Target, please call Mail Call and leave your phone number."

"In regards to the person asking about the emissions testing, that emissions testing in Washington County was started up in this county to create jobs in this area so that's why that was established. I forget who started that but that's why we have emissions testing and the state says it's a good job and good-paying job and that is why we have it in this county and that is not why they have it in Southern Maryland."

- Washington County

"I've been trying for several weeks to get a 2004 Washington County phone book and I understand some people got two and three of the same phone books and threw them away."

"I was calling about the landlord thing, I was renting a place out for $550 a month. The landlords gave me two months' notice that my rent would be increased to $750 a month. I was wondering, are they allowed to do this and what if the place is worth only about $300 a month?"

"In response to the person who left a response to Jeff Pond's letter, I wanted to say that your child must be the one riding the skateboard in front of me when I'm trying to drive."

- Williamsport

"Years ago the state started the lottery and that was suppose to be a cure-all. The money they made from the lottery was to help education, the elderly, etc. They wasted that money so they started Keno, along with the lottery, and that was supposed to be a cure for everything. They wasted that money. Now they want slot machines that will just get more money and they'll spend more money and we'll have poverty for the other people that do all this stuff like smoking and drinking and gambling."

"I would just like to know, even though I'm not a resident of the city of Hagerstown, I do operate a business within Hagerstown and since I have a financial stake within Hagers-town I'm wondering why I can't vote in for election?"

- Washington County

"I would like to respond as a health-care provider to the Smithsburg comment that we need to take charge of our own health. A statement was made that doctors don't encourage this because they get money everytime they prescribe medicines. This is not true. We do not get money for medicine that is prescribed. We get money from the salary we make just like everyone else. This is very unprofessional and untrue that this person would think this. You are responsible to take care of your own health and taking multivitamins is a good idea along with exercise and eating right."

"I saw Sandy Moats' picture in the paper and I am very glad for her. I spent some time at Julia Manor and this girl practically ran to do her job instead of walking and she was very dedicated. So were all the other workers there but I am especially glad for Sandy."

- Washington County

"Has anyone found any keys on South Potomac Street near Startzman's store or in that area? There were five keys on that chain and a white leather thing on it. If you do, please call in to Mail Call."

"I am so darn sick and tired of hearing jazz on the local radio station, just drums beating constantly. I am sick of the jazz day after day after day. We use to hear old-time sentimental songs, it was so good for us senior citizens but the jazz has to go."

- Washington County

"We took my young son who is 4 years old to Woodland Way park on Sunday because the weather was nice. It was the first time we've ever been over there because we are new to Hagerstown, but the dog droppings there was ridiculous. There is a sign there that says there's not even supposed to be dogs in the park. I think that the Washington County Parks and Recreation Departent needs to monitor that and they need to have somebody in there to clean it up because you can't even walk there."

- Hagerstown

"Hey, NASCAR fans, how did you like our first NASCAR race in our 51st state, or is that the other way around? Mexico is the first state. I don't know."

- Washington County

"This is in reply to the person who said the state has been in Democratic control for 40 years and all they did was raise taxes. Well, excuse me. You think that slots are going to cut your taxes? We got the Maryland state lottery and that didn't cut any taxes and neither will slots cut any taxes. The longer it goes, the more expensive this state gets. Under this Republican administration, I'm paying almost $200 for car tags, not to mention what I'm being soaked for gas and heating oil."

- Washington County

"This is in memory of Phil B. You are a very special person and you are gone but never, ever will you be forgotten."

- Hagerstown

"To the person from Franklin County, Pa., who said that the 56-year-old whose job is in Mexico, may be they were overpaid in the first place. Well, you keep on and maybe you'll be making $3 a hour with no health insurance. See how you get along on that kind of money."

- Washington County

"I read with interest in 'You Said It' about the Christian right and how the gospel of hatred makes it more difficult for the other Christians to do their work. I could not agree more and I am not a member of the Christian right. Actually, I am a born-again Christian of the Christian wrong and that is because the Christian wrong is really right. When will people learn?"

- Hagerstown

"I keep reading in the paper under the police section where all these calls come in about domestic violence but no arrests are made. I think when the police respond and there are no arrests made, someone should have to pay something for the service the police are doing. The time it's taking up for these calls they could be out doing something else. If they have no intention on having an arrest, then why in the world would they call."

- Hagerstown

"I would like to thank the gentleman who picked up the insurance check on Opal Drive and took it in to the insurance company for us when we dropped it on the parking lot. It is certainly wonderful to know that there are caring people in this world. Thank you so much. We do really appreciate it."

- Hagerstown

"This is for Victoria. I turned your American Express card in to the Valley Mall service center and you can pick it up there."

- Hagerstown

"On March 8 we saw our first dry wind on Sunflower Drive. I think you could call this the first dry wind snow that we had and hope it's the last one."

- Hagerstown

"I would just like to call and congratulate Jonathan and Dean from North High on the great job they did the past two weekends at the wrestling tournaments. Even though you were injured at the regionals, you both showed determination and heart to make it to states and you did a good job. Also to Andrew, great job."

- Greencastle, Pa.

"For the price of one gallon of gasoline, they could have raised the minimum wage. This goes to prove that the Republicans are not for the working people."

- Hagerstown

"God bless those women in their 80s who walked clear across the parking lot and didn't take up a handicap space or park at the front door. But before you throw stones, you should make sure you don't live in a glass house. There are all kinds of handicaps out here and just because the lady was smoking a cigarette doesn't mean she doesn't have back problems, hip problems or knee problems. Come on, let's get real."

- Hagerstown

"I too think that it's terrible that the Supreme Court voted to not charge teenagers under 18 that commit murder that they cannot be given capital punishment. Anyone under 18 years old can go right out and murder someone just for a thrill. Can't something be done about this law?"

- Hagerstown

"I think they need to think about putting speed bumps on Trego Road in Keedysville. People drive like they're crazy out here."

- Keedysville

"I just have a question. Could anybody give me some ideas on how to get rid of somebody who just gets in your face even though you tell them that you don't want to talk to them. They sit and wait for you like when you get off the elevator they come up behind you. This woman is driving me crazy and I don't want to do anything to her and I've tried to be nice, but I don't know what to do. Any suggestions, please leave them in Mail Call."
