Mayetta M. Shives
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Mayetta Mann Shives, 75, of Falling Waters, and formerly of Hancock, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1927, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Julia Shoemaker Mann.
Her husband, John Phillip Shives, died Feb. 8, 1983.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Gateway Ministries in Williamsport.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice M. Smith of Hagerstown, and Julia V. Walter of Falling Waters; two sisters, Leona McCusker of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Anna S. Gipe of Williamsport; three grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Pastor Shane Stauffer will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, which will be open after 2 p.m.

M. Elaine McLaughlin
FORT LOUDON, Pa. - M. Elaine McLaughlin, 71, formerly of 13148 Main St., Fort Loudon, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Michelle E. Newman, 811 Park St., Waynesboro, Pa., with whom she resided.
Born April 2, 1932, in Fort Loudon, she was the daughter of the late Andrew W. and Ethel Rosenberry Jones.
Her husband, Francis L. "Bunk" McLaughlin, died Feb. 18, 2001.
She was a 1950 graduate of Lemasters (Pa.) High School.
She was employed as a teachers' aide at James Buchanan Middle School from 1974 until 1986.
She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren Church of Waynesboro.
She was a member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 Ladies Auxiliary of Mercersburg, Pa., and a former member of Women of the Mountain of Fort Loudon.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by one son, Darrell C. McLaughlin of Chambersburg; one sister, E. Louise Bivens of Fort Loudon, and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Otterbein United Brethren Church. The Rev. Michael V. Newman will officiate. Private burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.

Robert M. Hoffman Jr.
LEITERSBURG - Robert Michael "Bobby" Hoffman Jr., 69, of 14401 Battletown Road, Leitersburg, Md., and formerly of Frederick, Md., died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 13, 1933, in Myersville, Md., he was a son of the late Robert Michael Hoffman Sr. and Gertrude Irene Cline Hoffman.
He had been employed for 15 years with Morgan & Keller Construction in Myersville, and retired in 1997 from Rotorex in Walkersville, Md.
He was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis Ann Smith Hoffman; three daughters, Rose Summerville and husband, Buck of Leitersburg, Roxann Long and husband, Jeff of Williamsport, Md., and Heather Hoffman of Leitersburg; one son, Robert David Hoffman and wife, Melissa of Walkersville; two sisters, Joann Mentzer of Clear Spring, Md., and Joyce Netz of Hagerstown; two brothers, Richard Hoffman of Hagers-town, and David Hoffman of Hedgesville, W.Va.; six grandchildren, John Summerville Jr., Christopher Hoffman, Jessica Summerville, Ryan Long, Sara Long and Shelby Hoffman; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Hoffman.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Wendell McClellan will officiate.

Allen H. Martin
Allen H. Martin, 83, of 13628 Paradise Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at his home.
Born March 23, 1920, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Eli H. and Susan Hege Martin.
His first wife, Cora Horst Martin, died Sept. 2, 1985.
He was last employed as a salesman for dairy and farm equipment.
He was a member of Paradise Mennonite Church near Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Louise F. Eby Martin, whom he married March 12, 1986; three daughters, Miriam L. Hostetter of Hagerstown, Elaine G. Martin of Greencastle, Pa., and Ethel M. Miller of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sons, Carlton R. Martin and Donald E. Martin, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Rhoda Eby of Clear Spring, Susan Martin of Smithsburg, and Catherine Weber and Mary Coss, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, Hege Martin of Clear Spring, and Eli W. Martin and Henry Martin, both of Hagerstown; 29 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Eby; one brother, Noah Martin; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss. The Revs. Glenn Martin, Darrel Martin, Dale Horst, Enos Rudolph and Wilmer Eby will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Paradise Mennonite Church near Hagerstown; and Thursday at 9 a.m. at the church.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Robert W. Kulp Jr.
Robert W. Kulp Jr., 58, of 11226 Cristins Circle, Hagers-town, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at his home.
Born April 27, 1945, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of Olive Blake Kulp of Indiana, and the late Robert W. Kulp Sr.
He was a graduate of David Prouty High School, Spencer, Mass., He received a master's degree in music from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
He was employed as the choir director at Zion Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judith Ellen Kulp; three sons, Jason M. Kulp of San Francisco, Jonathan R. Kulp, serving with the armed services in Japan, and Robert J. Kulp of Shelburne, Mass.; one sister, Patricia Landine of Indiana; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Zion Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Royal will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Cecelia A. Bush
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Cecelia A. "Peanut" Bush, 59, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born June 27, 1944, in Indian Head, Md., she was the daughter of Nannie Josephine Sheets Pipes of Martinsburg, and the late Elmer Lee Pipes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Bush Sr.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Tammy L. French of Martinsburg; one son, Robert O. Bush Jr. of Martinsburg; three brothers, Charles Pipes of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., James Pipes of Montgomery, W.Va., and Richard Pipes of Stephens City, Va.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen S. Bush; and one brother, Elmer Pipes.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Pastor Kathy Spitzer will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Michael W. Detrow
Michael William Detrow, 23, of 54 S. Cannon Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Born May 3, 1980, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Joseph Roger and Mary Kathryn Shope Dutrow of Hagerstown.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was a local musician.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Sara N. Dutrow and Amber M. Richardson, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Patricia R. Miller, Mary E. Dutrow and Jacqueline M. Dutrow, all of Hagerstown; one brother, Joseph M. Dutrow of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Edna J. Shope of Greenville, S.C.; four nieces and two nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. George Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
There will be no visitation.

Dolly A. Rockwell
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Dolly A. Rockwell, 71, of 131 Jopa Road, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Jan. 19, 1932, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Aden E. and Nellie M. Thompson Angle.
She graduated from Lemasters High School.
She worked as the office manager for Rockwell Lumber Co. of Greencastle.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday School. She had been a member of Lutheran Church Women.
She is survived by her husband, Myers D. Rockwell, whom she married June 4, 1953; two daughters, Dremah Runshaw of Shippensburg, Pa., and Dena Wingerd of Greencastle; two sons, Douglas L. Rockwell and Dirk A. Rockwell, both of Greencastle; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle. The Revs. Martin H. Horn and Donald M. Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paula D. Holloman
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Paula D. Holloman, 34, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident.
Born Sept. 2, 1968, in Winchester, she was the daughter of Diane Unger Comer of Stephens City, Va., and the late Richard Comer.
She was an L.P.N. employed by the Amherst Family Practice in Winchester.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Inwood, W.Va.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Holloman, whom she married July 27, 1991; one daughter, Heather A. Holloman; one son, James M. Holloman; one sister, Angela Amos of Winchester; and her grandmother, Lucy Unger of Berryville, Va.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Inwood. Pastors Devin B. Ward and Tim Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Central Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood.

Nancy R. Stevenson
MAUGANSVILLE - Nancy R. (Wolffsen) Stevenson, 74, of Maugansville, and formerly of New Jersey, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.
Born on Sept. 13, 1928, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Inger (Pederson) Wolffsen.
She was the wife of the late Cornelius A. "Nick" Stevenson, who passed away in 2001.
She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, and Ashbury United Methodist Church in Cinnaminson, N.J.
She is survived by a son, Stuart A. Stevenson of Sicklerville, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Elaine N. Stevenson of Sicklerville, N.J.; granddaughters, Jami R. Bagnell of Berlin, N.J. and Jodi C. Stevenson of Sicklerville, N.J.; sisters, Dana Smith of Maugansville, Md., and Lillian Spielman of Falling Waters, W.Va.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2003, at noon in Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Wesley Scouten will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Jacob H. Bushnell Jr.
BOONSBORO - Jacob H. Bushnell Jr., 73, of 28 Mountain View Drive, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1929, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Jacob H. Sr. and Zera M. Farris Bushnell.
He retired from Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md.
He was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean D. O'Connell Bushnell; two daughters, Debbie Heffelfinger of California, Mo., and Valerie Combs of Brunswick, Md.; two sons, David Bushnell of Frederick, Md., and Ronnie Bushnell of Germantown, Md.; two sisters, Sylvia A. McClure and Virginia L. Bayne, both of Roanoke; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Fahrney-Keedy Chapel in Boonsboro. Pastors Jim Hoffer and Louis Emerick will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Theresia M. Young
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Theresia Mae Young, 77, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at City Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1925, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lacy and Blanche Simpson Busey.
She was a 1944 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She retired as a cashier from Acme Market.
She was a member of Fellowship at North Mountain Church.
She sang in area churches and nursing homes.
She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Young; one daughter, Lesa Selders of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one sister, Daniece Myers of Silver Spring, Md.; two brothers, Marshall Busey of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carl Busey of Martinsburg.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Owen Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Rosesdale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard E. Herman
WILLIAMSPORT - Richard Emory Herman, 59, of 17046 Virginia Ave., died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 16, 1944, in Lock Haven, Pa., he was the son of the late Clair Emory and Bernice Hazel Miller Herman.
He was a 1962 graduate of Bald Eagle Nittany High School in Mill Hall, Pa., and attended Williamsport (Pa.) Area Community College.
He was a project manager for Comcast Cable Co. in Pittsburgh.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Sottile Herman; one daughter, Geri K. Myers of Mill Hall; one son, Richard J. Herman of Lock Haven; one sister, Donna K. Romig of State College, Pa.; and one grandson.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport. The Rev. James E. Swecker will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home in Williamsport Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will open at 9 a.m.
