Canine games winners announced
A canine games night took place Friday at the Peaceable Paws Dog and Puppy Training Center in Fairplay. Dogs competed in the musical sits and downs, find it and bobbing for hotdog events. All proceeds were donated to the Humane Society of Washington County.
Winners of musical sits and downs were: first place, Molly, a Cocker Spaniel belonging to Katie and Brian Ervin of Hagerstown. Katie is a Peaceable Paws trainer and owns a pet-sitting service, Four-Legged Friend Pet Services. Second place went to Gracie, a Catahoula mix belonging to the Robert Waugh family of Hagerstown. Gracie was adopted from the Humane Society of Washington County. Third place went to Mo, a Shepherd/Rottweiler mix belonging to Danielle Dersch of Hagerstown. Dersch is a Peaceable Paws apprentice trainer.
In the find it contest, Molly came in first; Mo, second, and Gracie, third.
In bobbing for hotdogs, Gracie came in first. Kismet, a cattle dog mix owned by Kitty Bowman of Falling Waters, WVa., came in second. Bowman owns and operates a dog training facility, "Camp Kitty," at her home.
Maya, a Golden Retrieiver owned by Meribeth Persson and Mike Geller came in third. Persson does therapeutic massage for dogs and horses.
The Canine Games Night Humane Society Fundraiser is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the third Friday of each month at Peaceable Paws Dog and Puppy Training Center, 17816 Spielman Road. The next event is Friday, Nov. 20.
