Feb. 3: Eighth-grade transition night, Williamsport High School auditorium, 6:30 p.m. Eighth-graders planning to attend Williamsport High in the fall are encouraged to attend. Coaches will sign up students for fall athletic programs and officials will answer questions about attending high school.

Feb. 7: Vera Bradley bingo, Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS banquet hall, 2 Brandy Drive. Doors open at 11 a.m.; lunch served at noon; bingo begins at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $25 in advance, $30 at the door. For tickets, call 301-223-8554.

Feb. 10 and 11: Plays by seventh-graders, Springfield Middle School, 7 p.m. Cost is $3 in advance; $5 at the door. “Someone Save My Baby Ruth! or ... Foil That Villain!” and “Bulldog Saves the Day or ... I was the Teacher’s Pitt” will be performed each night.

Feb. 11: Williamsport Lions Club meeting, Williamsport American Legion, 6:15 p.m. Paul Satterfield, president of Satterfield Enterprises in Thurmont, Md., will discuss wind energy and small wind turbines for homes or small businesses. Public welcome. Call Lou Stevens at 301-223-6114 to register for the $9 dinner. Deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 5.

Feb. 13: Comedy show, Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS banquet hall, 2 Brandy Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m.; dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Three acts of comedy start after dinner. Tickets cost $45 in advance, $50 at the door. Must be 21 or older to attend. For tickets, call 301-582-1119.

Paul Satterfield installs a wind-energy system in Carroll County, Md., last summer. Satterfield will discuss wind energy for homes and small businesses at the Feb. 11 Williamsport Lions Club meeting at Williamsport American Legion.
