( Baltimore Sun photo by Kenneth K. Lam / January 25, 2012 ) Anne Arundel County Council Chaiman Derek Fink's fondest memory: 2,130, the day his father surprised him with tickets to watch Cal Ripken Jr. tie Lou Gehrig's major league record for the most consecutive games played. That day, his father picked up 15-year-old Fink from junior varsity football practice in Pasadena and, instead of driving home, drove straight to the ballpark to watch Fink's idol make history. "I grew up right in that time he was everyone¿s role model," Fink said. "Everybody wanted to play short stop because of Cal Ripken, because he was all that." |
