Cured with cord blood donation

Sarah Shaffer, left, holds her 19 month old son, Mason, at a press conference at Mercy Medical Center announcing a public umbilical cord banking program. At 5 1/2 months old, Mason was diagnosed with a rare genetic bone marrow disorder, and was cured with a cord blood donation. Also in the photo are Maryland state senator Nancy Jacobs and Marc Shaffer, Mason's dad, on right. The Shaffers are from Lansdowne, PA.
