A Martinsburg man died Monday night when the vehicle he was driving went airborne, flipped over into the opposite lane and struck a rock embankment in the 3900 block of Shepherdstown Road, West Virginia State Police said.
Adrian Keith Rockenbaugh, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a state police news release.
Troopers said the accident happened at 8:48 p.m., when the 1997 BMW 3TI that Rockenbaugh was driving at a high rate of speed left the roadway at a hill crest. The airborne vehicle flipped into the opposite lane of traffic and struck the embankment, troopers said.
Rockenbaugh was thrown from the vehicle, troopers said.
