Shakespeare Theatre

Washington's Shakespeare Theatre has two sparkling productions on the boards.

"The Servant of Two Masters," adapted from the 18th-century Carlo Goldoni comedy and brilliantly directed by Christopher Bayes, runs through July 8 at the Lansburgh Theatre. It could probably run for months, given the high-voltage performances by Steven Epp as Truffaldino and the rest of the deliciously over-the-top cast.

The Bard is being well-served in an inventive production of "The Merry Wives of Windsor," updated by director Stephen Rayne to 1919 and given a spiffy set by Daniel Lee Conway. David Schramm is every inch an ideal Falstaff, with a richly resonant voice to match. The whole cast shines in this fast-moving joy ride. Through July 15 at Sidney Harman Hall.

Come the real dog days of summer, the company will offer another Shakespeare production, this one for free -- "All's Well That Ends Well," Aug. 23 to Sept. 5.
