MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Dr. C.H. Mitch Jacques, dean of the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center Eastern Division, retired June 30.

Jacques worked for more than 19 years as a physician and instructor.

Jacques was the only WVU School of Medicine faculty member who served at all three School of Medicine campuses. From 1993-96, he was chairman of the Department of Family Medicine Charleston; from 1996-2004, he was the Department of Family Medicine chairman in Morgantown; and from 2004-12, he was the dean of the School of Medicine Eastern Division.

In addition to his work as dean, Jacques maintained a clinical practice two days a week, saw patients at a local nursing home, provided volunteer medical services at a free clinic every month and was an active member of the WVUH-East board of directors.



Professionals Networking Together

Professionals Networking Together inducted the following new members: Jim Aaron, Tim Ammons, Tammy Crosten, Francesca Della Mea, Neal Glessner, Joshua Hoffman, Bob Houck, John Kastelein, Tonya Leary, Tina Mussolino, Dan Plotner, Thomas Radley, Josh Roberts, Juwuane Sandridge and Annette Varndell.

The networking organization meets every Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Supreme Buffet at 545 Dual Highway in Hagerstown. The group consists of local business professionals who meet weekly to refer clients and build each member’s business. Referrals generated to date this year total $54,524.

Fulton County Medical Center

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — Dr. Sunil K. Soi of Laurel Kidney Specialists, P.C., of Johnstown, Pa., started providing services at Fulton County Medical Center Specialty Services on July 26.

Soi specializes in kidney disease, hypertension and diabetes. His expertise includes daily consultations with kidney specialists; management of high blood pressure; anemia management; intravenous iron therapy; preventive vaccinations; medical management and prevention of kidney stones; diabetic kidney care; management of fluid overload for heart-failure patients; management of salt and potassium abnormalities; chronic kidney disease educational classes; dialysis patient support groups; and management of kidney transplants.

Soi graduated from medical school at the Christian Medical College in Punjab, India. He completed his residency at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown and finished his fellowships in nephrology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and critical care at Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Soi is board-certificated in internal medicine, nephrology and critical care.

Joan Bowers, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Hagerstown, has been appointed as an area female recruiting leader for the firm’s women’s initiative in Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Ohio and Maryland.
