Dr. Carl Pedersen
MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Dr. Carl Pedersen will retire from the practice of dentistry, effective Dec. 20.
A native of Canada who earned his degree from Georgetown Dental School, Pedersen has served Mercersburg and surrounding area since 1976, when he opened an office on North Main Street.
In 1997, he built his current office at 200 Loudon Road. The office and practice have been purchased by Dr. Jacqueline Hughes, who will begin seeing patients beginning Jan. 2.
Hughes graduated with honors from New York University Dental School and has been a member of the Keystone Dental Care staff since 1997. She holds membership in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Cumberland Valley Dental Association.
She is married and is the mother of four children.

Merchant’s Tire & Auto Centers
JUNO BEACH, Fla. — Albert Fogle of Boonsboro was named ASE Technician of the Year by Merchant’s Tire & Auto Centers and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
Fogle received the honor at ASE’s annual board meeting on Nov. 14, 2012 in San Antonio.
Fogle holds an ASE Master Technician and L1 certifications and has more than 32 years in the automotive service industry, 27 of which he has served as shop manager and head mechanic with Merchant’s. As an inductee in the Mechanic Hall of Fame, Fogle was selected as the Merchant’s Tire & Auto Centers/ASE Technician of the Year based on his ASE test scores and certifications, as well as his community outreach.
Maryland Correctional Training Center
TOWSON, Md. — The Maryland Correctional Training Center recently honored the following staff members:
• Correctional Case Management Specialist II Virginia Collins was named employee of the third quarter of 2012 at MCTC.
Collins continues to go way above and beyond her designated job duties to ensure that inmates involved in all substance-abuse programming in Housing Unit 8 get the best case-management services available, according to a news release from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
Collins has been employed at MCTC since Nov. 14, 2005.
• Correctional Dietary Supervisor Donald Ebersole was named supervisor of the second quarter of 2012 at MCTC.
Over the past several months, Ebersole has excelled in supporting staff and inmate functions at the facility, according to the release. He has demonstrated an acute ability for teamwork, working closely with staff on several occasions that emphasized his skills as a supervisor and a correctional professional. His oversight of the preparations for various activities has made the events successful.
Ebersole has been employed at MCTC since Feb. 1, 1996.
