WHAG-TV weather anchor Lou Scally recently was given the Silver Circle Award by the Board of Governors for the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to honor his more than 25 years in broadcasting.
Scally joined WHAG-TV in 1981 as a local weather anchor. In addition to being well-known throughout the community as a television personality, he is a host for WJEJ radio. For the past five years, he has been voted favorite local TV personality and favorite radio personality by Hagerstown magazine readers.
Scally grew up in Hagerstown and donates his time to many community activities.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Marcia Helfrick, a certified oncology nurse practitioner, joined the Summit Cancer and Hematology Services team as a personal liaison for patients with cancer.
Helfrick will help patients through all the steps in their treatment plan, help coordinate appointments, help with test results and write prescriptions.
Summit Health's treatment team includes oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, patient navigators, nurses and social workers. They work together to treat the whole patient, not just the cancer.

Maryland Association of Boards of Education
ANNAPOLIS — Washington County Board of Education member Donna Brightman recently graduated from the Maryland Association of Boards of Education's Leadership II Program.
Components of the program include completion of a leadership project, participation in several book-based seminars, leadership in MABE committees and activities, and completing course work on topics including communication, policy development, school system budgets, facilitating meetings, legislative skills and school system governance.
Associated Engineering Sciences Inc.
Chris Kerns and Mark Bard joined the staff at Hagerstown-based Associated Engineering Sciences Inc., or AESI.
Kerns is vice president of engineering, and Bard is vice president of surveying.
Kerns is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He has more than 10 years of experience in the land-development and engineering field. His expertise includes land-development planning, roadways, water distribution, sanitary sewer, stream hydrology, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control.
Bard is a licensed professional surveyor in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He has more than 30 years of experience in the land-surveying and construction industries. Bard also has experience in the construction field, in estimating and construction stakeout surveys.
