ATHENS, Ohio — Greg Long, a 1977 graduate of Boonsboro High School, chief operating officer at Doctors Hospital Nelsonville, recently accepted the position of president and chief executive officer at O’Bleness Health System in Athens, effective July 16.
Long replaces former O’Bleness president and CEO John Yanes, who resigned from the position on May 17.
Under Long’s leadership, Doctors Hospital Nelsonville received the 2011 Physician Best Place to Practice award, and successfully completed the 2011 Health Facilities Accreditation Program and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services validation surveys.
In his new role, Long will be employed by OhioHealth as part of a management agreement between O’Bleness and OhioHealth.
Prior to his position at Doctors Hospital Nelsonville, Long served as vice president of support services at Berger Hospital in Circleville, Ohio. He also was vice president of logistics at Berger Hospital, and has more than 20 years of health care leadership and experience in a variety of roles while serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Long received his Bachelor of Science in business administration with a specialization in health care administration from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. He received his Master of Public Administration from Wilmington (Del.) College.
Long and his wife, Valorie, have a son, Tyler, 25, and a daughter, Lauren, 23.
