Where we left off: Get up to speed on returning TV shows

By Yvonne Villarreal, Los Angeles Times
Can't remember where plotlines left off? Here's a synopsis of the latest events on 'Downton Abbey,' 'Girls,' 'The Voice,' 'American Idol' and 'Game of Thrones.'

The die-hard "Downton" fans have likely already downloaded third-season episodes after they aired in the U.K. last fall -- but for the technically challenged (or those without enough memory on their hard drives to do so), there's always PBS. When we left off, Matthew Crawley, left, was off being a soldier in the Battle of the Somme. And his on-again, off-again relationship with Lady Mary, right, seemed doomed when he returned with a new fiance -- but she would die from the Spanish flu (phew!) and Matthew would become temporarily paralyzed after getting caught up in a blast on the frontlines. Minor road blocks to the on-again nuptials between Matthew and Mary.
