				      <title>Monday, May 12th, 2008 - Anna Glodek Oil and Watercolor Exhibit at USMH</title>

				      <description>&lt;!&#8212;&#8212;StartFragment&#8212;&#8212;&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;Imaginary, spontaneous, urgent, bursting with color – thisis how Anna Glodek, a Maryland oil and watercolor artist, describes herpaintings. Glodek will bring her “New Beginnings,” figure and flower paintingexhibit to the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown Library from May 1 to June 5. An artist reception is scheduled for May 10, from 12&#8212;2 p.m. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;Glodek paints figure and flower compositions that “fitsomewhere between realism and abstraction,” she said. Describing herinspiration, she said, “When I look at flowers, I see a dance of petals andleaves folding into each other, opening and closing, coming together or pullingaway.”&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;She said she likes to use a thick application of oil paintto create multiple layers and uses the palette knife to move paint around. Themedium of watercolor, “allows me to be contemplative, yet playful at the sametime. I like the softness and quietness of building an image with transparentveils of color, especially in painting the human form.”&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;Glodek has had her paintings displayed in the FoundryGallery in Washington, D.C., and in October 2007 had a solo show at thegallery. She has participated in group shows at Glen Echo National Park, theMOCA Gallery in Georgetown, and the Foundry Gallery.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;She has studied at the Smithsonian Institute, the TorpedoFactory in Alexandria, VA, and across Maryland with abstract, watercolor andfigure artists.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;“Anna’s paintings are filled with intense color, texture andshapes. The patterns she creates in the paint are visually intriguing andappealing. Ms. McGraw&#39;s artwork will be on display for the entire month of May.  There will be a reception in her honor on Saturday, May 3 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  Lee will be available to meet visitors to the gallery during this time.  Ms. McGraw works mainly in watercolor and brings a unique view of her subjects. Ms. McGraw&#39;s artwork will be on display for the entire month of May.  There will be a reception in her honor on Saturday, May 3 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  Lee will be available to meet visitors to the gallery during this time.  Ms. McGraw works mainly in watercolor and brings a unique view of her subjects. 				      <description>&lt;!&#8212;&#8212;StartFragment&#8212;&#8212;&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;Imaginary, spontaneous, urgent, bursting with color – thisis how Anna Glodek, a Maryland oil and watercolor artist, describes herpaintings. Glodek will bring her “New Beginnings,” figure and flower paintingexhibit to the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown Library from May 1 to June 5. An artist reception is scheduled for May 10, from 12&#8212;2 p.m. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;Glodek paints figure and flower compositions that “fitsomewhere between realism and abstraction,” she said. Describing herinspiration, she said, “When I look at flowers, I see a dance of petals andleaves folding into each other, opening and closing, coming together or pullingaway.”&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;She said she likes to use a thick application of oil paintto create multiple layers and uses the palette knife to move paint around. Themedium of watercolor, “allows me to be contemplative, yet playful at the sametime. I like the softness and quietness of building an image with transparentveils of color, especially in painting the human form.”&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class=&#39;MsoNormal&#39;&gt;Glodek has had her paintings displayed in the FoundryGallery in Washington, D.C., and in October 2007 had a solo show at thegallery. 				      <description>&lt;p&gt;Steve&#39;s Studio/Gallery is proud to announce our student of the month &#8212; Lee McGraw of Hagerstown, MD.  Ms. McGraw&#39;s artwork will be on display for the entire month of May.  There will be a reception in her honor on Saturday, May 3 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.  Lee will be available to meet visitors to the gallery during this time.  Ms. McGraw works mainly in watercolor and brings a unique view of her subjects.   Steve&#39;s Studio/Gallery is located at 13194 Monterey Lane in Blue Ridge Summit, PA.  At Tracey&#39;s Corner, Monterey Lane and Rt. 16 which is conviently located 20 minutes from Hagerstown, MD and 5 minutes from Waynesboro, PA.
