PG-13; 1:52 running time
Aggressively pleasant, the British comedy "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen"stars Ewan McGregor as Alfred Jones, a tightly wrapped Scottish fisheries expert pulled into a sheik-financed project to introduce salmon fishing to the Yemen Highlands, a long way from the land of plaid.
Emily Blunt, one of the shrewdest light touches in the business, is the one who reels him in. She portrays the management consultant in the employ of the Yememi sheik (Amr Waked) obsessed with salmon fishing. (The sheik owns a lovely place in Scotland.) He believes the pastime can bring prosperity, peace and wellies to a particular corner of the Yemen. -- Michael Phillips
