Kristine Flaherty left Wilmette to pursue a sociology degree at Stanford, but the education she got was in something else entirely. "I just sort of figured out I could rap really fast," says Flaherty, a rapper-producer who goes by K.Flay. Flaherty says that though she grew up around music ¿ her dad played funk and soul records around the house, and she played the guitar a bit -- it was never a passion.
