CLEAR SPRING —
Matthew Blair, a senior at Clear Spring High School, was recognized recently as the recipient of the 46th annual E. Russell Hicks-Louis E. Tuckerman American History Award Scholarship by the Hagerstown Civil War Round Table at its May 26 meeting. Blair’s essay was chosen from five that were submitted.
He received a $1,000 check and a scholarship certificate from John Munday, scholarship chairman.
Matthew will attend Mississippi State University this fall, majoring in civil environmental engineering.
James Hutson, Matthew’s social studies teacher at Clear Spring, received the American History Teacher Award from Washington County Commissioners President Terry Baker.
