Members of Washington County Retired Educational Personnel Association donated more than $600 to the Washington County Family Center.
The donation will be used as part of the Barbara Bush Family Literacy Program and will be matched by the Barbara Bush Foundation.
The children and parents benefit from the services provided by the Family Center, including such things as earning high school diplomas, understanding childhood development and learning how to adjust to everyday life stresses.
Tena Lane and Ann Marie Downey recently presented the gift to Dori Yorks, director of the Family Center.
