ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Elizabeth Nicole Smith, a sophomore at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester.
She is majoring in sociology with a minor in math.
Elizabeth was also recognized for submitting a research proposal in her research methods class that will be used as a sample for future students in that class, according to her professor.
Elizabeth, a former Williamsport resident, graduated from Williamsport High School in 2010.
She is the daughter of Craig and Lisa Smith of Hagerstown.
MONT ALTO, Pa. — Nicholas A. Harbaugh of Clear Spring was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Penn State University’s Mont Alto campus.
He is in his final year of the physical therapy program at Mont Alto.
Nicholas graduated from Washington County Technical High School in 2010, where he was in the health occupations program.
He is the son of Barry and Dawn Harbaugh of Clear Spring.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Shannon J. Delaney of Hagerstown, a 2009 graduate of Smithsburg High School, received the West Virginia University Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship for the fall semester.
The award recognizes the achievement of earning a 4.0 grade-point average for the term.
Additionally, for the school year, Shannon has been awarded the William Wayt Scholarship within WVU’s Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, where she is studying human nutrition.
She is the daughter of Marty and Cindi Delaney.
ORLANDO, Fla. — Matthew Robert Hagerman graduated summa cum laude from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine on Dec. 15.
He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in molecular biology and microbiology.
Hagerman is the son of Kathy Grimm Kerr and Robert Hagerman, both formerly of the Hagerstown area.
He is the grandson of the late Frannie and Bob Hagerman of Hagerstown, and Judi and Dick Grimm of Williamsport.
ALBANY, N.Y. — Kenneth M. Kuszmaul of Hagerstown earned an Associate in Science from Excelsior College.
TOWSON, Md. — Alexa Plumley of Smithsburg was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Towson University.
Plumley is a sophomore studying nursing.
She graduated from Smithsburg High School in 2010.
She is the daughter of Mark and Susan Plumley.
