HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Jared Matlick of Shepherdstown, W.Va., recently was accepted into the inaugural class of Marshall University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Matlick received his bachelor’s degree from Kentucky Christian University.
Matlick is expected to begin course work in May.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The following local students have been named peer educators for the fall semester at the University of Charleston:

Jessie Spates of Falling Waters, W.Va.
Peer educators are upperclassmen who have made the transition from high school to college and are willing to share their experiences with first-year students as they begin their college careers.
BLACKSBURG, Va. — The following local students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Virginia Tech:
Maxlorenzo Agbayani of Martinsburg, W.Va., a freshman majoring in biological sciences in the College of Science
Michael A. Cogswell of Shepherdstown, W.Va., a senior majoring in computer science in the College of Engineering
Caleigh A. Holmes of Charles Town, W.Va., a sophomore majoring in international studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
Tara R. Petrucci of Martinsburg, a senior majoring in marketing management in the Pamplin College of Business
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The following local students recently were recognized as Institute for Management Scholars during the honors convocation at Lycoming College:
Marcy McLaughlin of Mercersburg, Pa., a senior majoring in economics
Stephanie Robinson of McConnellsburg, Pa., a senior majoring in business
SALISBURY, Md. — The following local students recently were accepted into Phi Eta Sigma, the national freshman honor society, at Salisbury University:
Laura Devlin of Frederick, Md., is a freshman majoring in secondary mathematics education. She is a member of the Education Club and Cru.
Devlin is a 2011 graduate of Tuscarora High School in Frederick. She is the daughter of Michael and Diane Devlin.
Emily Baumgarten of Ijamsville, Md., is a freshman majoring in nursing. She is a member of the Nursing Living Learning Community and is a dean’s list student.
