TOWSON, Md. — Megan Dianne Deckert of Boonsboro has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Deckert is a freshman at Towson University.
The honor society is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first- and second-year college students.
Membership is by invitation only, based on grade-point average and class standing.
It has more than 850,000 lifetime members and 300 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
PEORIA, Ill — Chad Thompson of Cascade was named to the dean’s list for the winter quarter at Robert Morris University.
He is a 2009 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
He is the son of Richard and Tina Thompson of Cascade.
SALISBURY, Md. — The following area students were recently accepted into Phi Eta Sigma, the national freshman honor society at Salisbury University:
Kaitlyn Mitchell, daughter of Denis and Kathy Mitchell of Hagerstown, is a freshman majoring in biology.
She is a member of the Quidditch Club, Cru, Habitat for Humanity and the Bellavance Honors Program.
She is also a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship.
Mitchell is a 2011 graduate of Grace Academy in Hagerstown.
Kari Louk, daughter of Ron and Ro Louk of Hagerstown, is a freshman majoring in chemistry.
Louk is a 2011 graduate of Bishop Walsh High School in Cumberland, Md.
Sunny Harvey, daughter of Scott and Paulette Harvey of Boonsboro, is majoring in psychology. She is a member of the Bellavance Honors Program and the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.
Harvey is a 2011 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
Jill Fawley, daughter of Melanie and Tim Fawley of Knoxville, Md., is a freshman majoring in accounting.
She is a member of the Girls on Top of the World Club and is a 2011 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School.
