BREVARD, N.C. — Teresa Musick of Hagerstown was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Brevard College.
ELKINS, W.Va. — Samantha Crabtree, a junior elementary education major at Davis & Elkins College, attended the West Virginia Reading Association’s 57th annual conference on Nov. 15 and 16 at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
The conference, titled “Olympians for Reading: Carrying the Torch for Literacy,” featured group sessions, keynote speakers, authors’ luncheons and an awards ceremony.
Group sessions were led by individuals who presented information about topics such as pediatric literacy programs, rubric-driven lessons, technology tools, the West Virginia Active Schools Campaign and creative writing.
Crabtree is the daughter of Kevin and Tracey Crabtree of Emmitsburg, Md.
BATON ROUGE, La. — The following area students recently were initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines:
— Kyle Andrews of Ranson, W.Va., who is pursuing a degree in music education at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
— Alec Yohn of Greencastle, Pa., who is pursuing a degree in human resources management at Penn State University.
