FREDERICK, Md.—
Easels in Frederick, a plein air painting festival and competition, will hold a Quick Draw competition on Saturday, June 23. This fast-paced competition is open to all artists, professional and amateur alike.Participants must be ages 16 and older. A registration fee of $10 will give competitors a chance at winning $1,000 in prizes.
The juried Easels in Frederick artists are automatically enter into this timed paint-out, giving the other contestants a chance to paint alongside exemplary plein air painters.
Registered artists will check in and have their canvases or papers stamped between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and will be free to select their location to paint within a prescribed area.
Artists will have two hours to complete a painting. After the two hours are up, the paintings will be placed on display for judging and public exhibit. First prize is $500; second prize is $300; third prize is $200.
Artists will also be able to sell their work straight off their easels during the exhibit.
