1. Take a dip
Take the plunge in Lake Royer. Proceeds benefit Fort Ritchie Community Center at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Fort Ritchie Community Center, 14421 Lake Royer Drive, Cascade. $25, includes a long-sleeved polar plunge T-shirt. Pledge forms are available at www.thefrcc.org, by calling 301-241-5085. Online donations accepted on Facebook at Polar Plunge 2013 at Lake Royer, by texting the word "Fort" to 22828 or by emailing khubbard@thefrcc.org.
2. Work on display
Artwork by Carol Wilks is on display and for sale through the gift shop. Tuesday, Jan. 1, through Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the hallway near the information desk at Meritus Medical Center, 11116 Medical Campus Road, east of Hagerstown. 3. Bingo!
Bingo will be Sunday, Dec. 30, at St. Maria Goretti High School, Gael Center, 1535 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown. Doors open at 4 p.m., bingo at 6 p.m. Jackpots, bonus game, specials, 50/50 raffle, door prizes, tip jars and more. Food and beverages available.
4. For teens only
A dance for ages 11 to 18 will be 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Martin Luther King Jr. gymnasium, 131 W. North Ave., Hagerstown. $2. Call 301-790-0203.
5. Countdown to 2013
New Year's Eve bash will be at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at American Legion Jackson-Perks Post 71, 225 W. Washington St., Charles Town, W.Va. Dance for ages 21 and older featuring the band Don't Look Back, playing a variety of music. $10. Call 304-725-7212 or email post71@wvlegion.org.
