1. Back in the saddle again
Washington County Horse Council open horse show will be Saturday, Aug. 18, at Washington County Agriculture Education Center, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, south of Hagerstown. Open to riders of all ages and skill levels. Registration at 8 a.m., school until 8:45 a.m., classes at 9 a.m. Warm-up jumps are provided outside the ring for additional schooling. Food will be sold. 2. Tuba many things to do
Peach Festival will be Saturday, Aug. 18, at Community Grounds, U.S. 30 and Hawbaker Drive, Fort Loudon, Pa. Dave Powers will perform southern gospel music at 10:30 a.m. and The Shippensburg Blaskapelle German Band (hence, the tuba) will perform from noon to 2 p.m. Food will be sold. Pie eating contest at 10:30 a.m., pie baking contest at 1 p.m. Vendors will sell items. Face painting and barrel train rides for children. If it rains, the event will be held at Freedom Lighthouse, Path Valley Road, Fort Loudoun, Pa. Sponsored by Trinity United Church of Christ. Go to www.explorefranklincountypa.com.
3. A dance for singles only
One on One Singles with Slate's D.J. will hold dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Aug. 17, at Knights of Columbus, 20340 Leitersburg Pike, Hagerstown. Casual dress, cash bar, snacks and door prizes. $7 per person. Call 304-274-3809.
4. Here to Make Me Laugh
Make Me Laugh Comedy Tour will be at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Tap House Sports Bar, 107 Keyes Ferry Road, Charles Town, W.Va. Featuring comedians from Comedy Central, Showtime and Just for Laughs. Chad Beadle hosts. $12 in advance; $15 at the door.
