I've always wondered why theres no YMCA here in Martinsburg.I know that the old one was renovated into a private residence for Moncure Chatfield-Taylor back in the 80's cuz hubby was in charge of the project. You would think that with the population in the area would have someone thinking that one was needed. Even people in the "boonies"( tongue.gif ) in Cumberland have one and they just got a 500,00$ grant for their community room! ohmy.gif I wonder who would know why there isn't one?City Counsel?Or maybe the County Counsel? Hmmm.....
I'd like the option of joining the Y instead of looking at other places to work out.And an in-door pool would be GREAT!

Funny you should mention that! I was just talking to a friend yesterday who works out at the Holiday Inn out your way. I asked him the same thing...Why isn't there a Y in WV?

I don't really think there are that many YMCA's any more at all, the only one nearby that I know of is in Hagerstown.

There's one in Chambersburg and one in Frederick also...one in Gaithersburg too...but that's going waaay too far.

You would be suprised to know that there are tons of YMCA's still around.

And the best part is, over 50% of them offer wrestling programs for youth wrestlers.

So how would one go about getting a Y built? I'm guessing you need a big-time investor or benefactor...and lots of land! You definitely need one in WV! They offer so much to families!
