Wow. What a freakin' cool piece of civil engineering. France just opened the world's tallest bridge.

Biggins, did you make it down to see this thing? Was it big news over there?

That is amazing! I wonder how long it will be before you see it in a sci-fi movie.

Three years? We need to find out what their "innovative techniques" are. They've been working on a bridge on I-95 near Springfield, VA for as since as long as I can remember. laugh.gif

I wonder how long it'll take France to surrender it to a foreign power. blink.gif

I wonder how long it will be before they have their first jumper. There's no question but that you would be successful on that bridge! ohmy.gif

Idiot, I think ya gotta be a moderator to attach pics. Ya get moderator status after 500 posts.

Personally, I think anyone should have attachment posting privileges.

Thanks Yoss. It makes sense I guess. I've learned from other forums that some people will post some tasteless things. Text may qualify as tasteless but doesn't have the same impact as pictures And you can't just click the scroll button before the damage is done.

500 huh? I better get cranking! laugh.gif

If anybody cares, Discovery Channel is running an hour long show next Sunday (8/21) at 1pm on the building of this bridge. I've seen the show and it's very interesting. Basically, they build big stretches of road on each end and slide them towards the middle.

Sounds pretty radical. I'll try to remember to Tivo it. Thanks.

Have you ever watched the documentary on the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT) on the History Channel? It's incredible.

BTW, I like the new sig better. I tried to post a pic of my Lab and GSP but I still can't.
