Hagerstown area called a 'Retail Mecca'
by Tom Riford

"The CVB believes that it's good news that more retail stores are being built. For instance, Kohls department store anticipates its grand opening in March. The new Starbucks and drive-through (at the Centre at Hagerstown) is anticipated to be opening in June, with a Pandera Bread store coming there in the fall."

Yo Tom... it's Panera Bread. Pandera sounds like a car or a rock band. tongue.gif

I saw that this morning, too! rolleyes.gif

OOOOH! A Panera! Expensive, but good food! Since I don't get down that way much anymore, I guess it won't make a difference.

I love their cinnamon crunch bagels. They have one in Frederick where I work but to get to it you have to go onto 355 which is a cluster in the morning. I'll be happy to see that come to Hagerstown.
Naomi
Great salads for lunch too!

Well are all of you BIG city (transplants) happy now? Your getting the stores you wished for.
Don`t take it personal I`m only picking on you. biggrin.gif I`m not won over yet.

McGee, except when I was in McLean early last month, the last time I was in a Panera was a couple of years ago in Tampa. They've got good food, but they'd best not bother opening if they're counting on making their living off of me - I haven't been down to that shopping center since Thanksgiving!

Besides, I can make a mean pot of cream of broccoli soup and homemade bread for much cheaper myself - why bother driving to Hagerstown! wink.gif

ohh care to share your recipe for the soup??
I love homemade bread as well, I just purchased a bread machine that I've been eyeing for awhile! I love having fresh bread on hand & knowing that it isn't packed with preservatives!

Got up this morning and it's so grey and cold looking, decided we'll have it for dinner tonight. Have a can of Grands I need to use up, so we'll have those instead of homemade bread tonight.

Basically, I use the 1988 Southern Living Yearbook recipe (pg. 56), but I "doctor" it up - I use about twice the amount of real butter, and a whole onion rather than 1/2 cup.
Do you have access to that yearbook, or shall I type it all out?

This isn't "skinny" food, but it sure is good!

Does your bread machine have a recipe for pizza dough? If so, I suggest you try it! I make pizza dough in my bread machine and it comes out perfect! Not too thick, not too thin - and perfectly crisp.
