Just heard on the news that a dog was found dead, tied to a tree. It was frozen to death. Funny how this corresponds with the recent, stupid comments in mail call about dogs not freezing out in the cold. Makes me wonder if someone might have tested the theory. mad.gif

I got online to try and find the story about it, but ran into this story instead.

CHAMBERSBURG, PA- A 2-year-old Lhaso Apso was thrown out of the window of a truck, a truck that was moving at the time. The dog almost died.
His new name is “Lucky Me” because that’s exactly what the 2-year-old Lhaso Apso mix is, after surviving abuse difficult to imagine.

Just three weeks ago he was thrown out the window of a moving truck, but luckily, the driver behind the truck saw the dog and brought him to someone she hoped could help.

"Right away I looked at this dog and thought, how`s he going to make it and how can we pay for this, I mean the vet bills are astronomical,” said Samantha Frye, with Greener Pastures Animal Rescue.

The truck got away but the dog was left with life-threatening injuries. “He had a broken eye socket, his jaw was broken and crushed in several place, he had a cracked sternum,” said Frye.

And the list goes on. but with the help of the community, the several hundred-dollar vet bill has been paid and things are looking up for the dog.

“The outpouring of donations and response and just people wanting to know about this little dog is just overwhelming, its amazing,” said Frye.

The donations continuing to come in are being collected at local businesses throughout Franklin County.

“We have containers and people can buy t-shirts for a $10 donation,” said Teresa Brill, manager of On What Grounds coffee shop.

Frye said she`s become very attached to what she`s calling her miracle dog, but she said she`s actively looking for a home.

“If I can`t find a great home for him, he will definitely stay here the rest of his life because he`s a very special little dog. But I think I`ll be able to find a nice home for him,” said Frye.

If you`d like to adopt Lucky Me, you can call 717-375-2980 to get more information. If you’d like to make a donation, you can mail them to: Greener Pastures, P.O. Box 368, Marion, PA 17235.

It was from NBC25.com

It sickens me! mad.gif And not too long along we had the dog tied to the railroad tracks in Martinsburg. And did anyone see the family dog that got out and was found still alive with an arrow shot through his head?! My god! I saw the picture. The article had said that someone had to have stood directly over the dog and shot an arrow right through his head.

What the hell is wrong with people?

What the hell is wrong with people?

Quite obviously some of them are insane, some of them are grossly stupid and some of them are mean, nasty, sadistic SOB's. But, lucky for humanity, most people are good people.

But, lucky for humanity, most people are good people.

Unfortunately, even good people can be ignorant.

I have a friend who leaves his dog chained to a dog house... this is a big dog... a rottie mix. It's on a 4 foot chain. 4 foot! Sometimes it's wallowing in it's own feces. But no matter how many times I say something to him, he won't do anything about it. "She's fine." "I move her around from spot to spot so she gets to see different things." "I can't give her a longer chain. She'd break it."

He's a very good person. Just doesn't understand about animals, I guess.

mad.gif I heard about the dog that froze to death on the news the other day. It was a pit-bull mix and it happened in Thurmont. Probably just a stupid owner that doesn't know anything about keeping a pet. But throwing a dog out of a vehicle is right up there with tying one to the railroad tracks! mad.gif

I just hate to think of all the sad stories that don't make the news.

It's amazing how sick people can be. Isn't animal abuse usually a precursor to human abuse?

It can be a warning signal. Just because one abuses animals doesn't mean one WILL eventually gradually advance to murder, but apparently studies have been done to show that many murderers did.

Police officers (atleast most) are now trained to look for signs of pet abuse when out on domestic calls where there might be spousal abuse.

It sickens me to think of what some people will do in their rage. Child abuse, spousal abuse, animal abuse, destruction of property. All signs of a very dangerous lack of self-control. It should rightly frighten us all when we see such things.

Man charged in dog's death indicted by grand jury

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg man who police allege tied his dog to railroad tracks last fall was indicted Tuesday by a Berkeley County grand jury on a felony count of animal cruelty.

Richard William Faircloth, 29, of 115 Swartz St., Martinsburg, could face a jury trial in Circuit Court.

Faircloth was charged with tying his dog, Kujo, to the tracks behind the Adam Stephen House in Martinsburg in October 2004. The dog died after its lower jaw was cut off by a passing train, police have said.

Faircloth previously told police that he killed the dog because it growled at his children, according to police.

Conviction on an animal cruelty charge carries a sentence of one to three years in prison and a fine of $1,000 to $5,000.

I just don't think it's enough. I say three to six years and $5,000 to $10,000. dry.gif
