Full Version: Careful for whom you vote!!
Herald-Mail Forums > Politics > Political Humor

Everyone who votes in the next election should carefully consider for whom they vote. I recently noted that Mr. Dan Kennedy is running for office. If you decide to elect Mr. Kennedy and that is certainly your right to do so, then make sure you elect someone to follow Mr. Kennedy every day.

Mr. Kennedy is not a shady politician. He will do whatever it takes to get ahead, no matter who he has to step on to do it. I think that covers every politician known. He will sweet-talk anyone he can to do his work and then disappear, hence the person to follow him.

Once the fool finishes his work, the person will need to contact him to let him know it is completed, hence the person to follow him.

Mr. Kennedy is a nice man but won't back you in an argument or help you in any other way.

Voters -- be careful for whom you vote. This is one time I know the politican before I vote. mad.gif

Be careful who you vote for is always good advice! Your opinion is welcome, but you give no context for how you know this person and why anyone else should believe you.

BTW -- Did anyone see in last night's paper where at least one candidate for council said they believe taxes need to be increased?! blink.gif

Before you throw out the words, libel and slander, make sure you understand what they mean. Libel is defined, in a legal dictionary, as any false and malicious written publication printed for the purpose of defaming another's character or reputation. Slander is defined, in a legal dictionary, as oral defamation; spoken words that defame a person in front of others and that cause harm or some damage.

1. I suppose then the person's allegation that I have already caused slander is just a fact they didn't know what slander meant.

2. Libel presents itself in any printed material for the purpose of defaming another's character or reputation. While these moderations may, and I stress may, be printed, the likelihood is slim.

Therefore, I seriously doubt I could be sued for libel or slander. Now, let me address the santimonious question if I have anything to defend my remarks concerning Mr. Kennedy and his "skills."

I worked with/for Mr. Kennedy for nearly 10 years and bore the brunt of having his jobs shoved off on to me while he disappeard for hours on end. I also suffered the ill-fated task of trying to find Mr. Kennedy when his supervisor wanted him and all I could say was "I'm sorry; he said he was going to smoke a cigerette a hour ago."

Does that satisifiy your legal minds about actual facts, libel, and slander?

my, my I didn't mean to be "sanctimonious".

I was asking a question. My question was to see if you could support your original allegations.

I was concerned about the libel and slander, because I didn't want to see you get in any kind of trouble. Yes, I care about strangers, about people I have not met in person.

You seem to have personal issues with Mr. Kennedy. As far as Mr. Kennedy "disappearing", sounds like that's merely a case of RHIP.

And, no, you haven't satisfied the original question.

Since you're being somewhat nasty, I'm not going to turn the other cheek...

Don't let your mouth write a check that your [butt] can't cash.

Mr. Kennedy doesn't impress me, and appears to not have the necessary skills to lead this city.

But I'd still like to hear more about why he shouldn't receive votes.

I am taking my ball and going home. You are boring me. When you become more intelligent and can hold a much more thoughtful conversation without insulting those with whom you talk, take 35 cents and call someone else. mad.gif
Yossarian
ahhh, don't cry...

Your lack of intelligence in being able to carry on a conversation indicates your inability to indulge in proper social skills.

And you still neglected to support your original allegations.

Don't go away mad, just...; Nevermind, you obviously don't merit the attention.

There is no need to insult me. Your idea of proper social skills and mine must come from two different countries. As moderator, I would think your behavior would warrant better manners.

Mr. Kennedy does not have the selflessness and ability to work continuously to complete a job if it takes longer than 40 hour, 9 am to 5 pm. His concentration level is low. Mr. Kennedy spends more time seeking a way around a job than tackling the job. He is known as a team player but plays the team into doing all the work and getting all the credit.

You misunderstand the difference between truth and bitterness. I knew Mr. Kennedy for nearly 10 years and worked closely with him but it has been almost 10 years since I last saw him. Perhaps he has made a miraculously recovery; attended college and received a master's degree in business management; discovered himself on a high mountain and changed his outlook on life.

Why is it you berate me so? Because I am a woman? How can you read nasty in mere words on a page?

There is the explanation as to how I know Mr. Kennedy and his background so well. The last 10 years may have changed him; I am not sure. If you know him and are confident in his skills, vote for him.

I'd like to know how you can say "Mr. Kennedy doesn't impress me, and appears to not have the necessary skills to lead this city." Have you met him? How can he "appear" not to have the skills, oh wise one?

Just a question for you. I don't know you or if you even know who this guy is. Why in gods name would anyone believe you? You could be some raving lunatic that has an axe to grind because you were passed over for a promotion. Do you see anyone else starting a link about " be careful of this guy"? NO because sane people don't write stuff like that with no factual basis to back them up! For all I know you are Otis the town drunk!! BTW> you told his boss he wen't to smoke a cig an hour ago?? So you definitely have an axe to grind! Even makes you less credible

Yoss is a great mod, Sugargirl. Remove yourself from your shoes for a minute and read your posts. They are clearly driven by emotional abandon. Don't get all pissy right off the bat because someone criticizes. Let it sink in and consider it before you toss it away as a personal attack. Maybe you have good points but just haven't presented them well. smile.gif
BMIC
With the internet, I don't think they quibble over whether it's technically "libel" or "slander". I think they just call it defamation of character and sue the pants off of you.

But if you want to risk it, far be it from any of us to stop you. rolleyes.gif

All of you are correct. I write with emotional abandon because I believe in electing officials who care. I write with emotional abandon because the candidate left me doing his work for nearly 10 years. I was a doormat then but not now.

Let yourselves for whom you wish to run your fair city. I recently moved here and perhaps I don't have any right to tell you anything about any candidate. If you feel he is a fair candidate, vote away.

I am climbing down off my soap box; leaving you to press on with other issues; and retire to something less stressful, such as handpainting lines on I-81. No, I am not going to tell you what day I'll be there.

I have been reading the Herald-Mail Forums recently and found them to be interesting and informative. I was compelled to register this evening so I could comment on the posting by SUGARGIRL. I am not familiar with forum etiquette but the narrative presented here appears to be out-of-bounds. Aren’t there some types of filters or safeguards that prevent personal opinion from turning into personal attack? I also worked FOR Mr. Kennedy, he was First Sergeant (1SG) Kennedy and commanded 200-300 troops. I saw him brief high-level Officers and civilians on multi-million dollar projects that he managed. He was highly regarded by his peers, superiors and subordinates. Obviously the Army thought he was doing a good job or he would not have achieved the NCO rank of 1SG in less than 20 years. After he retired with 20 years service he joined a civilian Telecommunications firm as VP of Operations. He had his bachelor’s degree when I worked with him and was working on his Masters in Business. I knew him as being honest, hard-working and compassionate. Be assured I will “PRINT” the input by SUGARGIRL and mail them to Mr. Kennedy. If it were I, the definition of slander quoted by SUGARGIRL would be sufficient for my purposes to seek legal consultation re: defamation of character.

Tailor> personally I don't put too much into anything she has said. She sounds like a bitter person with an axe to grind. She has NO facts to back up any of her allegations and if it were true that she had to do his work for him for 10 years. Thats her stupidity and she should have said something a long time before now
BMIC
Who is/was that Kennedy guy anyway? What is/was he running for? Does anyone other than Sugargirl and Tailor really care?

Defamation of character or not, this is an internet forum. It's pretty much a free-for-all. People say stuff all of the time. I really can't support anyone truthfully threatening a lawsuit over anything that's said here.
