Just floating an idea here: How about establishing a regular, casual meet-up for FORUM posters at one of the new Hagerstown coffee houses? Nothing structured -- just a social gathering to talk politics, gossip, or to contemplate the greatness that is Yossarian.

My thoughts:
Though I'd like to put a face to the names and opinions, and also relish the opportunity to beat the crap out of some of our illustrious posters :just kidding: (and perhaps, allow other posters to beat the crap out of me ), I've found that in other forums I've participated in, once you personally meet a fellow poster, the potential is there to stifle further unfettered tete a tete's. In other words, once you know who you're foruming with, you may have a tendency to not express yourself fully.

Besides, it would violate my number 1 internet rule. Never meet face-to-face with someone you "met" on the internet.

But other than that.... who knows...

Someone would get hurt.

I can see Yoss's point about how it could stifle some posters comments but in some cases that wouldn't be a bad thing. I'll include myself in that mix, although I can't think of anything I've written here that I wouldn't say openly.

The hardest part would be coordinating it, especially with the warm weather coming up. After the last fishing tournament I coordinated I swore I would never coordinate anything again.

I can tell you one coffee place that's almost always empty: I forget the name, but it's in the same shopping center at the Weiss supermarket. I go there occasionally because DH knows the owner, and it's usually empty.

I've heard good things about that place. It's "Java Bean Coffee Bar."

Y'all can come and see the uncanny family resemblance between Peacefrog and me.

I bought a bag of pumpkin-flavored coffee beans there for a friend for Christmas. She LOVED it - said the coffee was great. I got coffee there before and thought it was ok.
