Okay, I'm bored....
For years I paid cash at the gasoline station, well before the advent of debit/credit cards and pay at the pump and all that new-fangled stuff. Now it's becoming quite expensive to pay cash so we probably all put it on our debit/credit cards.
Back when you paid cash, you probably pumped out an even dollar/cent amount.
$6.75
$10.00
$9.25
but never
$7.38
$10.04, or
$7.82
This was to make it easier for change. Who wanted those nasty pennies?
Do you still pump your gas to an even dollar/cent amount? or, maybe you never did.
I still find myself pumping to the whole cent/dollar.
Like I said, I'm bored...

I always pump my gas to the even dollar/cent amount, even when I use my debit/credit card. But I think it's because I'm a little obsessive/compulsive!

I used to when I paid cash. But in the age of "pay at the pumps", I usually just pull it out when it pops off. Especially now that I have one of those little Speedpass gizmos that you just touch to the pump and almost instantly start filling up. Since it's tied to my Amex, I don't really care about getting a nice, rounded number.

I don't remember paying cash for gas very often, except a few slim times in college when I had to pay with scrounged change. LOL
DH always, always pumps to a whole number. It drives me batty, because to get to that whole number he'll "top off the tank," which means gas spills out of the hose... a big ol' waste in my opinion.
Plus, we always use credit for gas (our cc card gives us 5% back on gas purchases), so who cares about a whole number??

If it is close I might round to the nearest $, otherwise, wherever it stops. I use my credit card that gives me back 5% like PF. Just got a check back for over $130 -- not too shabby. Like saving 10 -11 cents a gallon...

I always round it, makes it easier in the checkbook. Not to mention, I have gas "budget" that I try to stick to. Getting harder and harder, though, as prices keep going up.

I used to even off the dollar amount if I were to pay cash, but now I even off the gallon amount. I'm moderately obsessive compulsive so I have to see perfect numbers somewhere.

I don't even look at the numbers and I always say "no" for a receipt. For all I know they could be robbing me blind.
I mean beyond the obvious.

I always round off cash or charge. definite OCD tendencies here also

I round about $.75-1.50 after it stops, because my car seems to trigger the pump stoppers way too early, so you end up without a full tank.
But no, I don't top it till it comes gushing out all over the place. I pay with the plastic, 5% back each month, with pay at the pump. Great deal!

When I get gas I always fill it up, so it's always something like $22.38 or something like that. I never understood rounding it up to the nearest dollar to make it look pretty when everything else you buy never looks that pretty.

I used to be this way, but I got tired of gas spilling out when I was going for the even number. Assuming your tank isn't finicky like boe's, let it pop off and walk away. Release the shackles of OCD!
None of this would apply if I still payed with cash. There's no way I couldn't round up to an even amount if cash was involved.
