Farming of Bones - Edwidge Danticat
My review of this book would be similar to that of "The Piano". Very depressing, not happy at all, but very powerful. Dominicans feel superior to the Hatians. Hatians work for the Dominicans, practically like slaves. Dominicans slaughter the Hatians. All told from the point of view of a young Hatian girl struggling to stay alive, trying to come to terms with her parent's watery death, and trying to find her lost love. It's not a book for the faint of heart, and it's not romantic at all. It makes you appreciate what we have here in America.
I give it two thumbs up!
