Okay, I'm not good at math, so correct me here if necessary.

$0.50 per paper, per day X 365 days = $182.00/year. Avid reader who gets 2 papers per day, double that figure to $364.00/year. (of course it's cheaper by subscription).

Now the paper hasn't always been $0.50, it's been 10, 15, and 25 cents. But the benefit of the doubt we'll say $0.50/copy.

$42,000.00 divided by $364.00 to get the number of years = 115 years.

Now, we either have Washington County's oldest citizen, Washington County's most gullible citizen (paying more than necessary for his paper, or perhaps buying multiple copies of the same paper) or WC's worst mathematician (next to me).

And he calls other people stupid?

I swear the news paper makes half of them up. Or its the only phone number Brooklane allows you to dail out.

I get tired of reading the "something needs to be done about [insert topic here]" messages.

Here's some advice, don't call Mail Call and complain, call the appropriate business or government agency that actual handles the problem you're bitching about.

"I've worked for 30 years and owned my home and I can't understand why the Westview Homes were built so nice. I worked 30 years to get where I'm at and these people have nicer homes. They have dishwashers, garbage disposals and stuff. I'd like to see something in the paper about how much better they have it then us that have worked 30 years."
