IT'S BACK!!! I know those who went last year LOVED this event that drew thousands of spectators and participants.

This year the events take place July 16-17 at Summit Point Raceway. Consult http://www.hyper-fest.com/ for more official information.

I know some people do not even know this place exists, but I believe Summit Point Raceway in WV is one of the most entertaining kept secrets in the area. Construction was completed on a 3rd track at the complex, making it one of the most well-known racing circuits in the US (to those who follow grassroots motorsports).

HyperFest 2005 is a unique event featuring modern vehicles doing things some may have never imagined such as drifting, exhibition and competitive racing, a "rice rice challenge," roll over contest, and the usual car show and spectating.

I went pessimistically in 2001 for the first time, and I was delightfully surprised. This event may not be for those who detest noise, heat, and walking, but I found it very enjoyable.

You can ride along in an old police car as driving instructors drive around the track at high speeds or you can test out your own car on the track. I just thought I'd add this to the events because I have had so much fun the last several years I've gone. I believe BMIC will agree with me that this event is necessary to attend if you have a passion for cars.

This year they have added a Daisy Duke lookalike contest, a Fear Factor type competition, a "big name" rock band called Theory of a Dead Man will be playing, and there will of course be fireworks. I believe I will be camping there Saturday night if anyone would like to stop by my tent/car to say hello. As long as I'm off work, I'll also be doing a driving session Saturday on one of tracks in my blurple BMW.

I and my kids sure did! We went on a drive along and it was pretty cool. Eventually I want to get into the HPDE - not this year, maybe next.

It was a lot of fun, and I just have to second everything Biggins said. Road racing is SO COOL! So much more entertaining than those silly NASCAR folks going around in little circles!

A quick reminder that this is tomorrow. Unfortunately, I cannot go now due to my job and a family reunion. If anyone here goes, please take photos.

My friends will be there and I was actually planning to be a track worker, but my neverending job "improving home improvement" and family are more important. Hopefully the weather will cooperate as well.

I'm SOL myself. Too many things to do. I had hoped to get there for most of the day, but something has come up and I can't make it. That really sucks, 'cause I had a ball last year!
