Postcard Secrets: Art

People create a home-made postcard and write their secret on it and send it in. They call it art.

I love this website.

"The PostSecret video can be seen on MTV's TRL."

Figures. A bunch of nonsense from a whole bunch of sick, twisted people. Sick and twisted enough that it passes as "art" - sure I'll buy that.
Heather
Be honest, B. You sent this one in.

Reminds me of driving past a car crash.

You don't want to see the bodies splayed across the pavement... the blood that puddles beside the flesh... the twisted limbs and bits of bone...

But you turn your head to look anyway.

I found this website horrifying and fascinating at the same time.

Heather, WTF? "ERROR - The requested URL could not be retrieved"

I find the whole thing juvenile and inane. A bunch of sick twisted people having a pity party.

Here's my secret: I got over it!

It's time they all did, too.

Based on many of your posts, B, I sometimes doubt this.

If these people aren't hurting anyone, what's the big deal?
Naomi
Some of them are interesting...pretty creative.

Are they art? I'm not so sure.

Actually, it ISN'T a big deal. That's my point. This is people making a big deal out of the kinds of things we all go through. Most of us don't get stuck obsessing over them because we know it's not healthy.

Classic MTV, though: much of it speaks to the typical suicide-obsessed adolescent.

OK I will admit some of them are pretty "creative". But on the whole it seems to me like it's just a bunch of whiney losers feeling sorry for themselves.

Based on some of the crap I've seen people rave about in art museums, most of this qualifies as art.

I just thought it was whimsical and original. Hadn't intended to make anyone sick with disdain.

Who’s sickened? I liked some of them. Some were “better” than others, obviously.

Nice find Heather. Thanks! tongue.gif
I think its a great site, allows folks to express themselves without being identified or judged.

I'm surprised this guy uses his home address instead of a P.O. Box, at least it appears to be a residence. unsure.gif

I still love this website.

I do too Heather! I check it every week to read the new postcards. I would've never known about it though had you not posted it on this site, so thanks for providing me with fun, lunchtime entertainment! biggrin.gif

By the way, the guy who runs the site had an exhibit down in D.C. not too long ago with a lot of never seen before postcards. I really wanted to go, but couldn't think of anyone who would've paid to actually see this type of thing. I should've called you! sad.gif

I would have gone with you, (depending on how much it cost). Maybe next time.
