My little mutt Tia, (picture available somewhere),
just won't be house trained,
I am not angry or even punish her,
just clean up the mess, and put her where she needs to go,
provide lots of praise when she goes outside.
the fact is , she goes all the time...
she just very little , just now barely over 4 pounds.
she is a wonderful pet,
I think she might just have a bladder problem,
has anyone else ever experienced this?
she was doing well at first, but then the last two weeks
it seems she goes outside, and then as soon as I bring her
back inside, (after a lengthly time outside) she immediately
messes again.
I do have an appointment with the vet for her basic follow up
visit, but just asking your advise first.
thanks my forum friends

You did the right thing by calling the vet. Let them decide if it's just a stubborn pooch or a medical problem.
I guess there's two main ways to house break a dog. The technique I used was crate training. The theory goes that dogs won't mess in their crate because it's their personal, confined area, so dogs like any reasonable creature don't want to soil their area. Whenever my dog was out of the crate, I was taking him out every hour. Pain in the butt, but he eventually got the idea. When he'd do his business outside, lots of praise, treats, and playtime would follow.
The other way I've heard of is paper training, where you sit newspapers around the house and try to convince the dog to go on the paper. I think you start reducing the number of paper and moving the papers towards the door to teach the dog to head outside to go.
Good luck!
