I'm just a novice photographer and have never invested a lot in equipment. I recently decided to go ahead and get a good quality camera. I got the Canon Digital Rebel XT and I love it !!! Does anyone else have one of these or one of the original Digital Rebels ???

I'd be interested in hearing about reliability or any other issues with the camera.

I know I've wanted one for a VERY long time, but I can't find the extra money to get one. I'm still using an outdated 2.1 mp FujiFilm with 6x zoom that I bought about 4 years ago when digi cams were just coming out. It works well, but the quality isn't the greatest and the zoom/shutter speed is awful now compared to many of the cameras my friends have.

Let me know how you like it!!!

The March issue of Consumer Reports reviewed digital SLR cameras but the Rebel XT wasn't rated. It was probably too new since those reviews are done several months before the report. Canon products in general get good ratings by CR and if it's anything like the EOS 300D (original Rebel), which consistently had high ratings, then you've got yourself a great camera. I've had an AE-1 35mm for 20 years that still takes great pictures and I also have an Elura 70 digital camcorder that's never had a problem.

I recently bought the Fuji E550 (6mp) digital camera because I can get 512MB memory cards for it really cheap through my business. I've had several digitals and the biggest problems I've had with any of them for just general use is battery life and blackout time between shots. You shouldn't have either of those problems.

Good luck with it.

I have a 2 year old Fuji S602. Takes great pictures but has noticable barrel distortion at its widest setting. I'm not ready to upgrade yet.

I just used my Rebel XT at a baseball game, Devil Rays vs. Red Sox. I got some really great shots !!! I'm still learning to use it, but so far so good !!!

I had bought a Cannon 35mm a three years ago to replace my old Olympus, but the back of the camera where you put the film broke last year before I was about to go on vacation. I was very angry since it wasn't that old, and now have gone back to the Olympus, but recently bought a Kodak digital camera, which I like.
