After a lengthy court battle initiated by a NY Times FOIA request, dozens of hours of FDNY radio transmissions have been released. Listening to some parts of these give me chills.

Don't wanna hear them, don't wanna see them, don't wanna know anything about them. I know it happened and that it can happen again, but I just got the lump out of my stomach, and I'm not going to put it back in there.

Afterwards, the Shrub went after Bin Laden - hooray, I supported that. Somehow though, he forgot all about Bin Laden, and now look at the mess we're in.

A terrible piece of history has been made even worse. It won't ever go away, but I choose to ignore it for my own self-preservation.

I understand your sentiment, sheash, and imagine many, many folks feel the same way.

But for me, even four years later, I still devour every new bit of information about that tragic day. It just fascinates me on so many levels (emotional, political, intellectual, etc.).

Let sleeping dogs lie. I have difficulty understanding how these tapes will help. Other than to give some ambulance chaser fodder for a lawsuit. I did not lose anyone in the tragic events, however I am deeply offended that this happened. I continue to serve my country in the US Army Reserve, partially because of these events. I have passed my 20 years I could easily say, OK, I did my part, I'm out of here, but no. I firmly believe in this great country and will continue to serve as long as the Good Lord allows me (as well as long as my wife tolerates it).

If Shrub is a cruel reference to MY COMMANDER IN CHIEF, how dare you! He was elected, deal with it. I do not always agree with him, but I serve the nation, unselfishly. I had to deal with Mr. Clinton, I didn't care for him, but I continued to serve. We have by no means forgotten about Bin Laden, I do hope you are not that naive.

The tapes will help local first responders all over the country get a sense of what it is like to go through something like that. They could be a great training tool. They will also help to form better methods of communication with in the police and fire departments.

Some of the victims familys may want to listen to what happened to their loved ones in those final moments. They have every right to do so if they think it will help to bring more closure.

Clinton was a not a role model by any means but lets be honest. Bush is doing a lot worse. Many people could get over having a President that was unfaithful to his wife among other things. But the "shrub" is killing innocent people as well as his own citizens, creating the biggest deficet in the history of the USA and still hasn't caught the man resposible for 911.

We may not have forgotten about Bin Laden, but George did along time ago. He doesn't have time to worry about him with the mess he made of Iraq.
