Rebutting the Lies of the Right Wing Smear Campaign
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cindy is a being manipulated by liberal activist groups.Cindy went to Crawford on a moment’s notice without discussing or coordinating her plans with any organization. She was accompanied to Crawford by a handful of dear friends. Cindy is a compelling and sympathetic figure who has attracted a lot of support from a wide range of people. She has struck a chord with the American public who have been waiting for a voice like hers seeking the truth. It is callous to dismiss the Camp Casey visitors as opportunistic activists – many of them are grieving parents drawn to Cindy and her message as a means to work through the tremendous loss their families have suffered. Cindy has asked that the new camp be restricted to military families and those who have lost loved ones. (It is helpful to mention by name some of the grieving parents – Bill Mitchell, Nadia McCaffery, Michelle DeFord, Lynn Bradach, Mary Ann MacCombie)
Cindy previously praised Bush, but has now changed her story to embarrass the president. The Vacaville Reporter, Cindy’s hometown paper, rejected this Republican claim originating from Matt Drudge. Here is a quote from the original article dated June 24, 2004: "We haven't been happy with the way the war has been handled," Cindy said. "The president has changed his reasons for being over there every time a reason is proven false or an objective reached."
Here is the article addressing the Republican misrepresentations of Cindy’s statements.

http://www.thereporter.com/portlet/article...article=2923921Bush is the president. He’s got important duties to attend to. He doesn't have time to meet with everyone. The president has been filmed bicycling around the neighborhood and he has personally attested to spending time fishing and attending little league baseball games. The president has no official events planned for this week. Keep in mind, also, that White House press secretary Scott McClellan recently proclaimed about the president's vacation in Crawford, that "Spending time outside Washington gives the president a fresh perspective of what's on the minds of the American people. It's a time, really, for him to shed the coat and tie and meet with folks out in the heartland and hear what's on their minds." Possibly, you may have to actually talk to people to find out what's on their mind.
Cindy is dishonoring her son and those who are serving in this war.Sheehan: "To me it's so ironic that I'm accused of dishonoring my son's memory, by doing what I'm doing, by the other side, and then somebody comes and does this [runs over the crosses planted to honor the Iraq war dead]."
In Cindy’s Own Words The Divorce (Huffington Post)My divorce was in the works way before I came out to Crawford. My husband filed the papers before this all started. It just recorded last Friday. My husband didn't know that it would become public record, and public knowledge. He had told his lawyer not to serve me with the paperwork or even bother me while I was at Camp Casey. He was trying to do the right thing. He didn't want me to find out.
Anti-Semitism (Huffington Post)The lie that I had said that Casey died for Israel. I never said that, I never wrote that. I had supposedly said it in a letter that I wrote to Ted Koppel's producer in March. I wrote the letter because I was upset at the way Ted treated me when I appeared at a Nightline Town Hall meeting in January right after the inauguration. I felt that Ted had totally disrespected me. I wrote the letter to Ted Bettag and cc'd a copy to the person who gave me Ted's address. I believe he changed the email and sent it out to capitalize on my new found notoriety by promoting his own agenda.
