I read about this too, it's outrageous... but it makes me wonder what the numbers are in this area. Is this a statistic that is reported all over the US?

I did a little research last night, but didn't come up with much.

I did see where over 50% of the school students are on the free/reduced lunch program and the Timken Corp. has had layoffs.

There is a very high unemployment and low income (median income $9,455), there is a lack of sex education (I did find something about some new program they're going to start), there is gang activity, there is a low graduation rate (around 51%) and lack of parental involvement.

I was wondering what the demographics were like in that area...
