My beloved and I are looking into buying a used 99 subi outback sport w/ appx 73000 miles on it, new brakes, new tires, newly inspected. My friend who lives in FL and does subi rallys lives for suburus and says that this car will easily go for another 73K miles and then some. Anybody out there ever owned one of these, can you give some opinions on it? ...

I think it's kind of a bad idea to buy anything with over 40 or 50K on it, mlt76. Even for a Subaru. You should stick to buying cars with less mileage.

milt76 if you go to
http://www.kbb.com/ they have reviews on all cars all the way back to the mid '90's. They are pretty honest on whether the car is good or bad.

Well, personally, a good car that'll last a long time, without repairs is a good one no amtter what the millage is. Scooby-Doos last a long time and rarely need major repairs. I would say go for it. Doens't sound like too bad of a deal. I disagree with melanie. I bought my 95 maxima with 60 on it. Haven't had any major issues that cost me good amounts of money. I love my Maxima!!

MLT in the past Scooby-Doos had there problems, but the newer models are nice machines. I would have the shocks and struts checked out to see if there was any off-road action the current owner has done. Besides that go for it! Subaru's last if taken care of. My soon to be wifes Scooby lasted her 4 years, when she sold it, it had over 140k and no major probs.

Most cars made in the '90s were made to go like 150,000 to 175,000 miles anyway, but if you want to trade it in for another car you won't get hardly any money for it.
