I have relocated to the eastern panhandle of WV due to my husband's employment and was surprised to find there is not a club for "non-natives" to get together and share their experiences. I am forming a Newcomer's Club. The usual club consists of women who have relocated to the area and are interested in meeting other women where we can develop friendships and contribute our time to the community, etc. If you are interested, please respond to this post with your email address. smile.gif

We will be relocating from Arizona the first week of November. The club sounds interesting. My email is jebarlund@juno.com
Thank you!

There used to be a Newcomer's Club in Hagerstown. I joined about 7 years ago, but never had time to go to the luncheons, so I didn't renew my membership. They had lunch at the Airport Inn and places like that. Decorated hats in the spring for a tea or something. Couldn't even tell you the names of the folks involved now.

I'm assuming that the club is not active at this point since I have been looking for one since I moved here and searched all over the web. I'd like to be able to get enough people together that we can form this club as a team effort and plan events around everyone's schedules. I don't know if I want to go to the extent of "decorating hats." Kind of corny, huh? I think it would be great for us to be able to make some difference in the community while making new friends and sharing experiences. As we start off, we can decide how often it is practical to meet and what types of things we'd like to do. If you're interested, let me know.

I joined a club recently that is infamous for being "corny" and we all have a blast all of the time. Don't be scared, girls. Corny is fun. wink.gif

I'd check out your club if I were newcomer, decorating hats 'n all. biggrin.gif

Let me know when you get settled in.

Dude. I'm 29.

Shut. Up.

Phoenix,

Welcome to the area. Please do not make duplicate posts in different forums. I merged the two separate threads into the most appropriate forum, so no posts were lost.

Snoopy:

I posted in two different forums since one was for Washington County, MD and one was for Martinsburg, WV. I felt that some people who are relocating to one area may not view the other area forum. I am trying to reach people in both MD and WV.

Just in case anyone is still wondering, I came across a small article in the Picket News (10/16/05) about the Hagerstown Newcomer's Club. The contacts listed were Lynn Brumbelow 301-733-5448 and Judy Waters 301-790-3735.
